This 40" Arming Sword patterned much after the swords used by professional Yeoman or Archers. These swords would have been the main backup weapon after an archer had loosed all their arrows. After they had unleashed their storm of arrows, a professional Archer would have carried an arming sword and buckler. This sword fits well in the hand with a 1045 High Carbon Steel Blade. The large pommel offsets the weight of the sword making this sword quite nimble.
The leather scabbard that comes with the sword is wrapped in leather with a metal scabbard chap at the end. This piece would make for a great addition to any beginning collection.
