Used throughout most of Central Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries, the Baselard was a very common and attractive dagger style. The French called them Basilards. The Germans called them Beselers. Whatever name associated with them, they were very popular. These daggers are even mentioned in history as the weapon used to kill Wat Tyler, the leader of the Peasants revolt in 1381.
